The Blacksmith Sound Redesign
I was requested from my school project to redesign the sounds to The Blacksmith. It has a mix of foley, sound effects mixed to the highest quality to make this project come to life. I used Pro Tools as my main DAW to create the sounds and Wwise for basic implementation.

Here is a track I did for school. It didn't come out like I wanted but it sounds good for the most part. For starts I settled for a tempo of 120 and chose the DMD drumkit because it has that dirty south type feel to it and my go-to when making music is a hip-hop type. For the drums, the first 8 bars I put the snares on beat 2 and 4 then changed it when the beat drops to every 3. Simple HiHat pattern. There’s also a clap on beat 3 throughout the beat that I added a delay to give it more of that drum feeling. I also recorded myself as part of the drum pattern, kind of like an adlib or a percussion sound just using my voice and to me it fits perfectly.
The bassline started to be simple, then changed it after I got the edited version, it still follows the kick pattern with a few more added notes so now it stands out with the other instruments. The hardest part was trying to find the right key to use for this project. My go-to key is usually Cm but for this project I did Am. The chords I did for the harmony was Am C F Em.
When I made the melody, it was a simple motif then I randomly chose a section in the melody and thought to myself “what would this sound like” and repeated a section in the melody brought it down an octave and that’s how I got the crazy melody. It got catchy the more I listened to it. Lol... I used the sampler and used a growl for some background noise that still went with the melody.
The mix was simple, EQ on tracks, compressed the drums a little. (Kicks and Bass is still a learning process to me when it comes to mixing lol) I also added delay on the clap, heavy reverb on my voice with EQ and compression. This was definitely a fun project!
